iPhone 14 will be the successor of the iPhone 13 in the line of smartphones marketed and designed by Apple Inc. Since 2007, Apple has annually released iPhone models and iOS updates.
For most of the iPhone releases, the company has followed a pattern that we will use to predict iPhone 14 release date.
With the latest release of iPhone 13 in 2021, iPhone 14 is expected to hit the stores in 2022 provided there are no “S” versions launched between iPhone 13 and iPhone 14.
If the company chooses to launch the “S” version, the iPhone 14 release date may shift to 2023.
What it will be called eventually depends upon what the company chooses to call iPhone 13, but we all know that Apple marketing names stay under wraps until the last minute, so we must wait for this information to be revealed.
With all these robust specifications and features of the iPhone 13, iPhone 14 is expected to possess major changes in the series of iPhones.
If Apple includes minor changes in its next smartphone model, we can look forward to big modifications in iPhone 14.
What do you think?
We say wait till launch because all these are just speculations and our predictions, we should take it with a grain of salt.
iPhone 14 Models
What everybody is expecting is that Apple will release the following 4 models for its 2022 iPhone 14-
- iPhone 14 mini
- iPhone 14
- iPhone 14 Pro
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
And as you know the dimensions, display, and camera features will be different for all these models.
We would also like to tell you that there are still rumors that say there will be no mini version of iPhone 14 and instead iPhone 14 Max (or something like that) with the same display as iPhone 14 (6.1 inches) and iPhone 14 Pro versions with 6.7 inches display will be launched altogether.
However, it is still argued upon and no one knows for sure.
We will be mentioning the expected features of the mini version of the iPhone 14 in this article.
iPhone 14 Release Date
Up until 2021, Apple has been quite consistent with its release dates for new iPhones.
Usually, the new handsets were announced at the beginning of September and released a week or so later with the exceptions of the iPhone X and XR, which came out in November and October respectively, and the spring-launched iPhone SE series.
The iPhone 12 was announced in October 2020 and released in November 2020.
The iPhone 13 was released in October 2021, we can also expect our iPhone 14 to be out by mid-September 2022.
Instead of mentioning a fake release date, we want to acknowledge our readers with the correct information.
Here are the release dates of iPhones since starting that gives us confidence about the iPhone 14 release date to be somewhere around October 2022.
- iPhone– Jun 2007
- iPhone 3G – Jul 2008
- iPhone 3GS – Jul 2009

- iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Mini, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max– Sep 2022 (expected)
If you notice, the company has launched a new iPhone every year. In fact, After the release of the iPhone 5 in September 2021, the company started to release more than one model of iPhone.
One more thing to note here is that iPhone was being launched in the month of September every year but due to Covid-19, the company shifted the release of the iPhone 12 to the month of October in 2020. It was a virtual event!
In September 2016, Apple announced 3 variants of the iPhone 7 and since iPhone 11 was launched in September 2019, they started to release 4 variants of the iPhone.
This year again, we are expecting iPhone 14 to be launched in 4 different variants that I have spoken of.
The situation in 2021 was also not good, and the 2021 iPhone was launched in September itself. It looks like iPhone 14 release date will also fall in September 2022.

These are the minimum expected megapixels of the rear cameras in iPhone 14 (and its models); however, Apple is expected to push to higher megapixel ratings in the future.
Some also suggest that a fourth rear camera will be added to iPhone 14 or 15. This will be a periscope lens that uses light folding for long-distance shots.
Although there are reports that suggest Apple will be jumping straight to a 48 MP camera for its two iPhone 14 Pro versions, it is not convincing as seen in Apple’s past where they hardly change the megapixel ratings in new models. Its last jump was from 8 MP to 12 MP in iPhone X from iPhone 8.
A jump from 12 M to 18 MP is way more acceptable and realistic.
However, it is also expected that higher megapixels in iPhone 14 will change nothing because the image output will be in 12 megapixels only.
It is believed that the camera will support 8k video recording on iPhone 14, for the very first time.

- The no notch display
Talking about the different features of the iPhone 14, reports say that the front notch with the front camera will be completely removed, while a slim notch in iPhone 13.
Apple will opt for a punch-hole type front camera making it similar to its various competitors in the market.
And this would mean that either Apple will remove its True Depth camera and sensor for Face ID or it will opt for a hidden (layered-in) Face ID system.
Removing the notch will not only mean placing a simple punch-hole camera but will require a whole lot of modifications in the model.
Below is the technology currently located in iPhone’s notch:
- Infrared camera
- Flood Illuminator
- Proximity sensor
- Ambient light sensor
- Dot Projector
The hole-punch camera would affect how the OS displays information as well. The notch allows a short status bar with battery and signal information, while the hole punch would enable a full-length status bar.
Apple could show users more information or provide developers the ability to add status icons similar to Android.
People have shown mixed reactions to this feature. Some say it will be futuristic while some say that the punch-hole camera would just seek user attention by floating with a screen around it.
The port-less design
The most shocking feature of the iPhone 14 is that it is anticipated that the company will go for a portless design for its 2022 smartphone.
The most obvious solution is to remove the Lightning port and rely on Mag Safe and wireless connectivity for charging and data transfer.
And in order for this to occur, Mag Safe will need to become a much more mature system.
Apple should provide users with a similar port experience that currently fast charges the iPhone at 18W.
So, this would also mean that Apple will provide users with a better charging option with iPhone 14.
With 5G and Wi-Fi becoming more standard around the world, the data transfer component is becoming less of an issue, so the port-less model of the iPhone 14 won’t cause much trouble for the same.
Several user authenticators
The iPad Air 4 was introduced with a new version of Touch ID embedded in its Side Button, which could be implemented in iPhone 14.
All this is because of the global pandemic that forced everyone to put on face masks making it difficult to use Face ID. The 2022 iPhone 14 can have multiple forms of biometric authentication.
Apple is currently using the Apple Watch and proximity to the iPhone to unlock the device when the user is wearing a mask, so we can expect this relationship to grow in future models.
The always-on display
The iPhone 14 is expected to use LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) backplanes to enable variable refresh rate displays.
This means the iPhone will be able to operate at 120Hz when needed, then throttle refresh rate to as little as 1Hz when the faster rates aren’t necessary.
This is the same technology the Apple Watch Series 5 and later use to achieve an always-on display feature.
So, it will display critical information in a low-power state and allow users to see the time, the number of missed calls or texts, and other information without the display ever being fully on. It looks like Apple could be looking to make up lost time by adopting a bolder strategy going forward.
iPhone 14 Price in USA, UK, Canada, Australia & Worldwide
This is a dicey question to ask. It is believed that Apple would not change the prices much for new iPhones because of the global coronavirus pandemic.
While things can change and the company can make any decision due to its market conditions, we still expect the iPhone 14 price to be around $799 in the United States, £700 in the United Kingdom, Can$700 in Canada & AUS$850 in Australia.
The price of the iPhone 14 in other countries will be in line with its price in the United States, though the country’s local taxation policy will certainly affect the pricing in respective countries.
The 2020 iPhone 12 Pro Max (512 GB) cost around $1399.
And if the mini version of the iPhone 14 is launched, we can also expect a lower price point. Until 2022, you can have this as a rough figure.
But you must remember that the price of your iPhone model changes with the storage option you opt for: higher storage will mean a higher price of the phone.
This was all the information we know about the iPhone 14 (if it is called so) to be launched in 2022.
Its fantastic features and major modifications expected, if come true will totally change the way of using a smartphone for iPhone users.
It will not only make them feel futuristic but as always, will help them in performing functions faster and smoother than ever.
Some features like “the no-notch” will still be debatable but we must remember that other competitors like Samsung have already tried out this feature with the public.
We think that the hole-punch camera would feel similar to the Assistive Touch icon. What do you say?
Let us know in the comment section below.
The multiple biometric scan options will also be a great thing to experience.
In the end, you must remember that these features of the iPhone 14 and its models are all based on rumors. Some of them can be true and others can be false.
Although we can still expect this tech-savvy company to include such mind-blowing features and more in its future iPhones to amaze the users.
